Burkettsville Fire Department Receives Grant for New Fire Truck

Midwest Electric is proud to support the communities we serve with more than just reliable electricity. Through economic development programs, we’re helping local organizations make important investments that strengthen our communities for years to come.

Recently, Midwest Electric received a USDA Rural Economic Development Grant, allowing us to provide the Burkettsville Community Fire Department with a $360,000, 0% interest loan to purchase a new fire truck. This investment will help ensure local firefighters have the equipment they need to respond safely and effectively when their community needs them most. 

The new fire truck is expected to arrive in November 2027. But the impact of this loan won’t end when the fire truck arrives. As the village repays the loan, those funds will return to Midwest Electric’s revolving loan fund. They money can then be loaned again to other businesses and organizations in our community at low interest rates, helping support additional economic development projects. 

To date, Midwest Electric has provided more than $3.8 million in low-interest economic development loans, supporting businesses, organizations, and community projects throughout the area.
