Midwest Electric Members Donate $15,100 to 20 Local Organizations

Midwest Electric recently donated $15,100 to 20 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection Fund

Thanks to the 90% of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has donated more than $1.5 million to over 1,350 local charitable causes since 1998. Parkway food pantry

The latest CCF grant recipients include:

  • Parkway Local Food Pantry, Mercer County; $800 to purchase a refrigerator, freezer, and electrical upgrades
  • VFW – Bailey Schockman Post 5135, Mercer County; $750 for electrical and parking lot light repairs
  • Mercer County D.A.R.E.; $750 to purchase supplies for D.A.R.E. graduation programs
  • Love Inc. of Van Wert County; $750 for electrical repairs for homeowners served through the Ignite Initiative
  • First United Methodist Church, Van Wert County; $750 for the Operation Back to School event
  • Van Wert High School; $900 to purchase iPads for digital art courses
  • YWCA of Van Wert County; $750 to support the construction of a new facility
  • Putnam County Council on Aging, Inc.; $800 to support a three-phrase facility improvement project
  • Lima Symphony Orchestra, Allen County; $500 for the Young People’s Concert
  • Children’s Development Center of Lima, Allen County; $600 to purchase classroom sensory-support materials for the preschool program
  • Grand Lake Area Literature Festival, Auglaize County; $750 to support the Grand Lake Area Literature Festival
  • Children’s Hometown Holiday, Auglaize County; $750 to rent an ice-skating rink for the event
  • United Way of Auglaize County; $750 to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
  • Generations of Love, Auglaize County; $750 to help families facing barriers
  • Mercy Unlimited, Auglaize County; 850 to provide schools with micro pantries
  • Auglaize County Educational Service Center; $650 to purchase a sound field system for preschool
  • Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association, Auglaize County; $750 to support the Servants Day Project
  • Christmas Jubilee, Auglaize County; $1,000 to purchase food items for families experiencing financial hardship
  • Auglaize County Board of Development Disabilities; $750 to purchase a wheelchair glider for their community garden
  • New Knoxville Christmas in the Village, Auglaize County; $750 to support the Christmas in the Village event.Mercer County Dare Program

The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members’ monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the Fund. A Board of Trustees, composed of nine cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversees the application and allocation process.
