Do you know how to SAFELY exit a vehicle if you absolutely had to? This PSA video makes sure people know exactly what to do when their car comes into contact with a utility pole or wire:
-
Always assume wires are energized.
-
Call 911 immediately.
-
Do not leave your vehicle.
-
If forced from your vehicle due to smoke or fire:
-
Open door.
-
Jump down with both feet together. Don't let your hands touch any part of the vehicle at the same time as your feet touching the ground.
-
Shuffle or hop to safety (at least 50 feet away)
-
Please share it with your loved ones and friends so they know what to do if they are ever in these circumstances. Please don't get out of the vehicle until you have confirmation power has been turned off!
The film begins with an EMT recalling an incident in which a driver got badly injured, followed by a dramatization of two teenagers involved in an accident.
