Midwest Electric Members Donate $14,050 to 14 Local Organizations

Midwest Electric recently donated $14,050 to 14 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection Fund.

Thanks to the 90% of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has donated more than $1.4 million to over 1,300 local charitable causes since 1998.

The latest CCF grant recipients include:

  • Specialized Alternatives for Families & Youth (SAFY); $1,000 for youth support programs
  • Cairo-Monroe Township Fire & EMS; $1,000 to purchase lifepack units for EMS unit
  • Columbus Grove Character Academy (LifeWise); $1,000 to purchase large screen television and tables
  • Marion Township Police Department; $1,000 to purchase an Electronic Radar Speed Feedback Device
  • American Township Fire Department; $1,000 to purchase MARCS digital pagers
  • St. Marys 3-Point Club; $750 to support the Little Riders Youth Basketball program
  • God’s Storehouse; $1,500 to support the food pantry
  • St. Paul United Church of Christ Food Ministries; $2,000 to support meal programs
  • Celina Cares; $800 to fund spay and neuter services for cats
  • Knights of Columbus Council 1800; $1,000 for the diaper drive to benefit the Choosing Life Pregnancy Center
  • North Valley CYO; $500 for the State CYO Basketball Tournament
  • Foundations Behavioral Health Services; $1,000 to support the Mercer County Y2Y retreat
  • St. Henry High School After Prom; $500 to provide a safe, fun, and memorable after prom event
  • Van Wert County Historical Society; $1,000 to purchase archival storage containers

The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the Fund. A Board of Trustees, composed of nine cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversee the application and allocation process.
